Members of the
business community first met on May 8, 2002 to discuss the need
for, and interest in the formation of an organization focused on
safety in the workplace. Meetings continued over the next few
months involving a steering committee focused on start up of the
group. The NSVSN was officially organized on August 14, 2002 by
the acceptance of the by-laws.
Network
Goals:
· Improve health and safety
· Reduce injury and illness rates by 10% annually
· Provide health and safety resources for area business
Objectives:
· Recruit additional members
· Share experiences; exchange information; leverage resources
· Increase health and safety awareness
· Facilitate and provide educational programs of interest to area
businesses, as well as provide canned and custom training
programs.
